As I’ve grown spiritually and spent more time in God’s Word, I have a gained better understanding of how precious the gift of the Holy Spirit is! The Bible teaches that when we have believed in Jesus, He will ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit to counsel and teach us.
Several years ago, when I was a baby Christian, I was facing perhaps the most difficult situation I’d ever faced in my life. I was completely overwhelmed and not at all sure what to do. The struggle I was facing totally crushed me. I was in tears for days, depressed, lost, afraid, weak, empty. My instinct was to grab the bull by the horns and just go Marine on it…. but I’m very glad I didn’t! I’m certain I would have made an even bigger mess of things.
I eventually ended up with my face in my pillow, talking to God in a way I never had before, pouring out every emotion and human logic I had on the ear that never stops listening…. and then one afternoon I felt a strength and peace fill me. It was like getting a giant bear hug from the inside out!
The Holy Spirit filled me that day. That day I understood exactly what Jesus meant when He said “… the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 16:26
I believe in God. I believe Jesus is the Son of God. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. I BELIEVE.
Have you ever been so overwhelmed with a problem that you just want run away and give up? Have you grabbed those horns and went Marine on the problem, only to fail again and again?
I pray you will call out to Jesus and ask for His help and forgiveness. I pray you will believe.
